Information on the Keswick Mountain Festival 2013


The popular Keswick Mountain Festival 2013 brings five days of adventure to Keswick and the Lake District this May. Running from the 15th to the 19th, there will be are a range of different activities to suit all. The festival's goal is to inspire visitors to get out into the great outdoors and what better place to experience this than in the Lake District National Park.

Other aims of the Festival are to showcase the beautiful and stunning landscapes of the Lakeland Fells, with activities and challenges that can be enjoyed by everyone, with something for all ages and abilities.
 
Originally founded by the Keswick Tourism Association, the Keswick Mountain Festival has been running since 2006 working within the outdoors sector which has contributed to the increased development and success of the Festival.
 
The 2013 Festival will be the 7th year the event has been running, and it continues to grow and develop year on year inspiring visitors from across the UK and overseas, and is now one of the largest UK Mountain Festival attracting around 20,000 visitors to Keswick.

Keswick and the English Lake District

Keswick is the perfect place to host the festival with its stunning scenery, unrivalled setting and its natural arena. An ideal starting point for any adventure!
 
The market town of Keswick offers an all round holiday destination experience. There are plenty of great traditional pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants along with a great choice of shops and galleries for those in need of some retail therapy!
 
For those seeking cultural activities, the renowned Theatre by the Lake which is just a short walk from Howe Keld along with the Alhambra cinema in the centre of Keswick.
 
Keswick is home to some of the most dramatic landscapes in Britain which we feel everyone should come and enjoy! On offer are a spectacular array of mountains, valleys, lakes and tarns all within relatively easy reach and all just waiting to be explored. Close at hand are the four highest mountains in England - Scafell and Scafell Pike, Skiddaw and Helvellyn - each over 3,000 feet high and propose a challenge for even the most experienced fell walker.
