Dining & Breakfast at Howe Keld
Our intention has always been to provide a jolly good breakfast with plenty of choice so we were really pleased to receive a special award for quality both from the AA and Visit Britain. The emphasis is very much on local produce. Home baked organic bread is made from wholewheat flour ground at a local watermill and there are free range eggs from a nearby farm. The dry cured bacon comes both from a local supplier and Richard Woodall’s south Cumbrian farm (by Royal Appointment). His Cumberland sausage is justifiably famous.
There is an extensive variety of dishes - cereals, yoghurts, fruits, compotes, croissants, breads, preserves , smoothie of the day - just make your selection at the buffet. We feel everyone including vegetarians will delight in the choice available!
In order to provide an unusually extensive choice of cooked breakfast, we respectfully ask our guests to make their choice of main breakfast the night before. The large buffet will be ready for you in the morning.
Breakfast begins at 8.15 and guests are requested to arrive by 9.00am.
Howe Keld supports Fair Trade and every cup of organic Java coffee served at breakfast includes a contribution to the "Save Our Squirrels Trust" to help red squirrel survival within the Lake District.
Breakfast is taken in the new, bright and spacious dining room amid fine white china and fresh flowers. The food can be enjoyed at English oak tables and chairs, all crafted by a 5th generation firm of Lancashire furniture makers.
