Howe Keld Keswick Bed and Breakfast Facilities
Location
Situated a hop, skip and a jump away from Derwentwater and the impressive Theatre by the Lake, Howe Keld has commanding views of the surrounding Lakeland fells. Originally two traditional stone terraced houses they were combined and then extended to create a deceptively large Guest House with 14 modern en suite bedrooms.
Bedrooms
Howe Keld offers a variety of en suite bedrooms, all designed, decorated and equipped to the highest of standards. Single, double, twin or family en suites are available. We think you will be impressed! There is also free WiFi access throughout the accommodation.
Rooms are normally serviced between 10am and 2pm and are available for newly arriving guests after 2pm.
For Guests arriving earlier then 2pm if their room is not ready we are still very happy to check them in with their luggage.
Guests are requested to vacate their rooms by 10:00am or soon after.
Reception
On the ground floor there is a bright and spacious dining room connecting to a reception area which is available for use until 10pm. After this time we have found that its use risks disturbing other guests in neighbouring bedrooms. We do not accommodate group bookings but will gladly recommend other businesses who have suitable facilities to offer.
In this room you will also find lots of useful information in guides, books and magazines about the National Park. Laura will be only too happy to advise on walks, tours, visitor attractions and local restaurants for dinner.
Breakfast
Our intention has always been to offer a generous breakfast with plenty of choice so we were really pleased to receive a special award for quality both from the AA and Visit Britain. The emphasis is very much on local produce. Home baked organic bread, with its beautiful aroma, is made from wholewheat flour ground at a local watermill and there are free range eggs from a nearby farm. The dry cured bacon comes both from a local supplier and Richard Woodalls south Cumbrian farm (by Royal Appointment). His Cumberland sausage is also the very best. There is an extensive variety of dishes - cereals, yoghurts, fruits, compotes, croissants, breads, preserves , smoothie of the day - just make your selection at the buffet. We feel everyone including vegetarians will delight in the choice available!
To provide an unusually extensive choice of cooked breakfast, efficient service and reduced wastage we respectfully ask our guests to make their choice of main breakfast the night before. The large buffet will be ready in the morning.
Breakfast is taken in the new, bright and spacious dining room amid fine white china and fresh flowers. The food can be enjoyed at English oak tables and chairs, all crafted by a 7th generation firm of furniture makers.
Breakfast begins at 8.15 and guests are requested to arrive by 9.00am.

Howe Keld operates a Fair Trade philosophy and even the Fair Trade coffee is grown organically in Java.
FAMILIES
We welcome children ( we have brought up our two daughters at Howe Keld ) but inevitably facilities for families are limited in the building. There are of course numerous activities in the National Park for all ages!
The family room we can offer is suitable for 2 adults and a child.
