Join the Keswick Ramblers and climb Coniston Old Man
Despite the damp forecast come to Howe Keld stay the night and then climb this impressive mountain that dominates Coniston Village. When you get to summit you can look down on the tarns nestled in the corries far below and over to Coniston village and see the steamer plighing up and down the lake. The highest point is 803m, Ascent 750m, Distance 11km.
Stay at Howe Keld then join the Keswick Ramblers and enjoy some hidden gems as well as the Lake District classics. If you are a keen walker and enjoy the company of a small group you are sure to find kindred spirits on these walks. Individuals, couples and groups are all welcome. More information and the full programme is on our website. Walks come in three grades : C - fairly easy walk on mixed ground; valleys or low fells. B - a good days walk with some steep ascents and descents; quite strenuous. A - a serious walk going high with steep ascents; good fitness necessary. Walks last all day and for the majority we meet in Keswick at 9 or 10am. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids. In the interest of the group as a whole the leader is empowered to refuse to take anyone whom he/she considers to be unlikely to complete the walk safely.
