The school holidays and Keswick Convention is over for another year, however the town is still bustling with visitors and activity. The stunning sunshine we have had over the past few weeks has really showcased Keswick in all its glory. With the large number of visitors flocking to Keswick in the summer months, car parking can be rather difficult (and expensive!) We are very lucky to have our own free parking facilities onsite at Howe Keld for up to 7 cars. There is also unrestricted free parking a short walk away at The Heads, although this time of year you need a bit of luck on your side to nab a space along there.
We encourage our guests to leave their car in our car park and then explore Keswick and the surrounding areas by foot, boat and bike. There are many wonderful walking tracks and bike trails nearby, and we are very near Lake Derwentwater.
Walk to and around Lake Derwentwater
Walk from Howe Keld, through Crow park and Hope park then you’ll be at the lake in a matter of minutes. The lake offers plenty of things to do, such as feeding the ducks, hiring a row boat, going for an lake cruise excursion on the Keswick launch, a gentle stroll along to Friars Crag lookout point and so much more. A great place to take the family too, with picnic benches and a little children’s trail walk. You may even see a red squirrel or two on your adventures!
