We have a large, comfortable residents lounge available for guests to relax and unwind in at the end of an active day. The fine view emphasises that you are amidst England's finest scenery.

There is a collection of Lake District books and guides available in the lounge, which you are welcome to use to help plan your stay with us. However David & Valerie are only too happy to recommend walking routes, places to visit and local restaurants, etc.

Resident proprietors, David and Valerie with their daughters Josie and Sophie, make a young family team. Their diverse backgrounds have mostly been connected with the hotel and restaurant business. David had the privilege of working in two 'hotels of the year' - Sharrow Bay and Gravetye Manor and then spent many years managing restaurants for the market leading vegetarian restaurant chain in London - 'Cranks'.

Valerie trained as a home economist, taught food and nutrition for a number of years before co-authoring two of the successful 'Cranks' vegetarian cookery books. She is a trained cooking instructor.

Howe Keld is a well-equipped Lakeland Hotel and the ever increasing numbers of regularly returning guests bear testimony to the fact that David & Valerie's successful formula is a winning one.
